 Both the technology and the involvement in high altitude ballooning in the UK has now reached a point where it is possible to work on collaborative projects. The UKHAS Glider Project will be an attempt to put together a reusable high altitude glider system with the ability to land in a designated spot which will reduce the requirement to chase but also improve safety by avoiding landing in dangerous situations. While this may appear to be repeat of many other glider projects we hope that through collaboration between different individuals we will be able to successfully achieve our goals.
-The project is open to anyone to participate in with or without any experience and of course it isn't restricted to the UK however launches for the time being will take place here. Most of the discussion and planning will take place on the IRC channel #highaltitude on irc.freenode.net and the UKHAS mailing list. To get involved subscribe to the mailing list (link phatmonkey?) and come and say hi on the channel.
